Every payment made through EthiopePay — online, at a bank, or to a field collection officer — produces a reference you can check for yourself.
To verify a receipt:
1. Open the Verify a Payment tool on this portal.
2. Enter the payment reference or receipt number exactly as printed.
3. The portal reads the official revenue record and shows you the amount, the date, the payer and what was paid for.
If a reference does not appear, or the details do not match the paper receipt you were given, do not treat the payment as settled — contact the secretariat straight away. Verification is free and needs no account, so check before you rely on any receipt.
